BOONE, NC - November 4, 2008 - ECR Software Corporation (ECRS), a leading provider of automation systems for independent retailers, today received full Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) certification from Visa in compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). This compliance certification includes CATAPULT Retail Automation Software v4.1 and all subsequent releases.
In achieving PABP certification, ECRS is providing a secure way for customers to implement and maintain ECRS systems within their infrastructure in accordance with the PCI DSS. This provides retail merchants with the tools needed to achieve required PCI Compliance.
ECRS engaged Trustwave, a third party company recognized by the PCI Security Standards Council as a Qualified Security Assessor, to help guide product development in order to meet compliancy standards. ECRS also created an internal PCI Security Team to strictly monitor this development process and maintain compliancy after certification.
CATAPULT Customer Compliance documents have been created to assist customers in the implementation process of CATAPULT to achieve security standards. These documents define general requirements regarding networks, system set up, patch downloading and other detailed information. The PABP compliant - PCI-ready, CATAPULT 4.1, is now available through software upgrades.

PCI DSS are a set of requirements designed to enhance payment account data security. These requirements were created by payment brands including American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa, Inc.
